Water

Tunnel water ingress controlLeaks and inflow stopped in tunnels, shafts and underground structures.Crack and joint injectionLeaking cracks and joints sealed, and structural cracks bonded, in concrete and masonry.Waterproofing and polyurea liningsPU membranes and polyurea linings for decks, tanks, tunnels and water structures.

Tunnels

Pre- and post-excavation groutingWater cut off and weak ground consolidated ahead of the face; voids closed behind it.Cavity and void fillingVoids above tunnel crowns, behind linings and under slabs filled without loading the support.Tunnel rehabilitationOld and operating tunnels: seepage stopped, ground consolidated and lining repaired, under traffic.

Ground

Track and slab re-levellingSettled ballastless track and slabs lifted back to level by PU injection, on live lines.Permeation and chemical groutingWeak, loose or wet ground strengthened and sealed by resins and gels that fill it without moving it.TAM groutingStaged grouting through sleeve pipes for shafts, foundations and deep excavations.Curtain and consolidation groutingSeepage cut-offs and foundation consolidation for dams, barrages, shafts and structures.Ground investigation and monitoringERT, GPR and MASW surveys, boreholes, lab tests and instruments, before and after treatment.

Water

Crack and joint injection

A crack that carries water corrodes the steel and keeps growing. We inject it from the dry side: polyurethane or acrylate gel where water is moving, epoxy where the crack must be bonded so the concrete works as one piece again.

When to call us

The signs

  • Leaking cracks and joints in basements, tanks, galleries and tunnels.
  • Manholes and chambers letting groundwater in or sewage out.
  • Spigot and collar joints in pipelines.
  • Structural cracks in beams, slabs, walls and bridges.
Injecting a leaking crack in a concrete wallSection through a concrete wall with wet ground behind it. Holes drilled at an angle from the dry face cross the crack inside the wall; packers in the holes carry resin into the crack, from the lowest packer up, and push the water out. 4. Note 4: Resin fills the crack: PU or acrylate gel where water is moving, epoxy where the crack must be bonded.
  5. Note 5: The resin pushes the water out of the crack ahead of it.
  6. Note 6: Once the resin has cured, packers come out and the holes are sealed.

How we do it

Method, step by step

  1. Inspect

Cracks mapped, with their width, their movement and whether they carry water.

  2. Choose the resin

PU or acrylate gel for wet or moving cracks; epoxy for dry structural cracks.

  3. Drill and set packers

Holes at an angle to cross the crack inside the element, with packers along the crack.

  4. Inject

From the lowest packer up, until resin shows at the next one.

  5. Finish

Packers removed, holes sealed and the surface made good.

Questions

What clients ask

PU or epoxy?

PU for cracks that carry water or still move: it seals and stays flexible. Epoxy for dry cracks that must carry load again: it bonds. A leaking crack that also needs bonding is usually sealed first and bonded after.

Can a manhole be repaired without digging it out?

In most cases, yes. Joints and cracks are injected from inside, and the ground around a leaking chamber can be sealed by injecting through its wall.
