SUBSTRATE PREPARATIONS GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Spray systems should only be applied to clean, dry and sound surfaces. Remove all dust, oil, grease, and lose rust, or any other foreign material to ensure adequate adhesion.
CONCRETE
Concrete substrates should be completely cured before coating or a minimum of 28 days must have passed. Laitance, release agents, and salts need to be removed by high-pressure water jetting or sandblasting. Other substrate cleaning guidelines can be consulted via SSPC-SP13, NACE 6. It is important to note that the use of a primer is generally needed to achieve adequate adhesion. The recoat window recommended by your supplier should also be respected.
METAL/STEEL
Metal surfaces need to be prepared by means of sandblasting until they have a nearly white appearance. The surface profile will ensure adequate mechanical adhesion. Solvent cleaning is needed to remove any oil and grease. If priming is needed, this should be undertaken within eight hours of sandblasting to prevent any flash rusting.
STORAGE
Containers of StrataGemma PS 197A should be stored indoors in a well-ventilated area under normal factory conditions at temperatures of between 20-25°C. Stored under recommended conditions, and in an unopened, sealed container.
SHELF-LIFE
StrataGemma PS 197A has a storage life of six months.
