Description
Ground consolidation is integral in preventing major ground settlements. When a saturated layer of sandy soil is under stress from the ground surface, pressure goes up, resulting in the quick drainage of some water from the voids left in the soil. This is the precursor to ground settlement, and we know how to protect it from happening.
Risk Faced
- Shear zones
- High in-situ stress
- Problematic Soil / Water
- Weak Rock
- Faults, shear zones, weak rock, problematic soil, water, high in-situ stress
- Uncertain Rock Fall Due To Unconfined Strata
- Great uncertainties with high risks for Long and deep tunnels

Challenges
- Slope Failures
- Wedge Failure
- Ground Settlements
- Cavity formation
- Heavy Soil Loses / Increase Of Voids
- Saturated Strata
- Sliding Rock Mass
- Uncertain Rock Movements
- Consolidation of Rock Mass
